Remove the titles Brin compares, and look at the underlying philosophies.

On a less relevant (i.e., more personal) note, I refused to see the second Star Wars trilogy after readng this essay when it first appeared. My boycott has lasted to this day. After reading the reviews, I don't think I've missed much in the way of cinematic entertainment, either.
