If Al Gore were president right now, odds are the same thing would be happening. Why do you think Clinton got shot down by Arafat? The Palestinian leadership does not want peace. It wants Isreal dead, dead, dead. They will pretend otherwise as long as they think they can get something out of it, usually buckets of hard cash from useful idiots overseas. Palestinian leaders who honestly want peace are routinely exterminated by the others.

Failure to accept this unpleasant truth results in decades of useless attempts to believe that a nice, neat "two state" solution is possible. Israel withdrew from Gaza. It bought them exactly nothing, being considered a "victory" by the radicals.

I don't have an easy answer. I find it encouraging in this current situation that a lot of Arabs are condemning Hezbollah, but whether it's on moral grounds, or just anger for jumping the gun, I'm not sure.
