Ayn Rand's long essay was on the virtue of rationality and the morality of achievement, not individualism per se.

I can't blame you for having not read it. I don't think it's online (the estate is quite hard-assed about that stuff) and I doubt you'd want to buy one of the books just to read it. And I'm certainly not going to harp at you for commenting on something you haven't actually read. ;)
