First of all I am a space cadet from a long time ago, and love everything to do with it. But for me the space center was a big disappointment. One problem was that I was there not long after 9/11 and the security was high. I was expecting to see the mission control center, but that was off limits. In fact most things were off limits. The tram tour, which was delayed 2 hrs because of thunderstorms, only took us to 2 buildings. One being the training center with all the mock-ups including a Soyuz. The other was the building where the X38 was being worked on. It didn’t help that I knew it had already been canceled. They were interesting, but other than that it was a big disappointment. The exhibits at the big center were nothing I had not seen at many other space exhibits in other museums. I had already seen the IMAX movies at local theaters. Maybe I was in a bad mood that day. It should have been a thrilling experience, but it wasn’t.
