Robotic repair of HST

How far did things get in terms of planning and design with the idea of
using robots to repair Hubble? Maybe HST can get along with one more
manned tending mission, but what about future satellites, especially those
that are and will be placed in very high orbits or even solar ones? I think
that robots able to fix those distant craft will be not only useful but vital
for the continued success of such missions.
