Unlike most other people [assuming Mel hasn't foolishly lived beyond his means] Mel could just take long vacation.
Of course if he can't do that, one idea is he could go to arctic and make some sideshow showing the world is doomed from global warming. Or maybe set up arctic refuge to save the polar bear. Personally I would like to see a film of Mel trying to knife fight a polar bear- but Mel doesn't do many films that I like.
