Flame

Useful Idiots in the media

And I'm using the term generously, as opposed to something worse, like terrorist enabler.

Spend a little time on the mainstream news sites, and see what impression you walk away with.

I did an experiment this morning. There is a slideshow on Yahoo News titled "Mideast Conflict". The pictures are from a variety of news services.

I sat through all of them in the past half hour. You have to do them one at a time to see the captions. At the time I looked, there were 374 photos. The photos change over the day, but I doubt the general drift of the show will.

If Hezbollah had paid the guy who put this show together, there would not be one thing different.

This is what you see:

Countless shots of damage and death in Lebanon.

Countless shots of anti-Israel and anti-American protests.

Countless shots of Israeli troops and armaments.

This is what you will NOT see:

There is not one single photo of any injured or dead Israeli civilian. There are maybe three of wounded Israeli troops.

There is not one single photo of Israeli damage done by Hezbollah rockets. Not one.

There are three shots of Israelis sitting calmly in a bomb shelter, and one shot of a firefighting helicopter putting out some burning vegetation in Israel. Other than this, you would never know from this presentation that Hezbollah was firing any rockets at all. The captions don't mention it. The captions do repeat endlessly about the Israeli attacks.

A few more items in this same general vein:

Almost every UNIFIL press release has mentioned Hezbollah using the location of their facilities as attack points. Read them yourself.

A blogger has noted something interesting about the photos making the rounds of the press (almost half a page in my paper today.) See what you think. Don't forget the update at the top.
