My question is...will any of our esteemed civil rights advocates cry racism at the depiction of an African American as a cannibal? When I first looked at the banner I tried to figure the subtext - and that's it. A Black cannibal feasting on human bodies. Do you know what nation specialized in such depictions until about 1950?

Yep.

France.

That banner has France written all over it. It was either designed by someone with French ties or produced by a French firm. Maybe both. It's racist to the core, but the civil rights folks will ignore it because they hate Ms. Rice and the US far more than they hate racism.
