This is a big problem in PA. Independents and third parties of all kinds have a hell of a time getting on the ballot, and may not vote in primary elections even at the local level. It ought to be changed, but it won't be any time soon.

On the other hand, disclosure of where the money came from goes a long way toward letting people know what the game really is. I think that's a good thing, personally. I think that people ought to be able to collect as much money from whomever they want, as long as it gets published in the paper and put on TV the week of the election in big, friendly pie charts so that people can see what's up.

Me? I'd sign a petition allowing Satan to run for office. Doesn't mean I'd vote for him.
