I'm VERY close to channeling RL.

From the USGS here's a histogram of the magnitude of earthquakes in 1998. Notice that the greatest occurances of earthquakes during this year are magnitude 4. I'm sure there are more histograms out there for other time periods. If not, why don't you create them? The USGS has all kinds of data you could use to do a statistical study.

Even if you did demonstrate the statistical abnormality of recent quakes, your statement "...if there is no other logical explanation for it, then my postulation as to why it is happening must be correct" would still have stunning flaws in reasoning.
