re: "Several busloads of brown shirts"
I watched them on the late night news on election night: not violent but belligerent and aggressive, waving signs, in-your-face attitudes, clean-shaven, trimmed hair and skinny ties. All-American, bullet-headed Saxon mothers' sons. You know the type. And they were obviously well-organized, disciplined, and under unified command. At least, I could tell they were not Cubans.
The elderly volunteers counting votes inside were visibly terrified. The next day there was nothing on TV about them and I've never heard them mentioned again until today. I do not know if they actually were able to affect the vote recount or not.
