History has shown McClelland was a wuss and an ineffective general but, when you're talking about individuals, you can't apply the formula to all with the same party designation or make some broad reaching analogy without being challenged on it. If one individual's actions set the tone for all members of that party the Republicans would be forever doomed from the taint of Joseph McCarthy.
