A famous shipwreck

Hi EP

Isaac Asimov pointed out years ago that it's very strange that Noah's Ark is described as going towards the mountains of Ararat rather than into the Persian Gulf. He suggested that an impact induced tsunami is the only cause consistent with the Ark's journey - the 40 days/nights is scribal exaggeration for theological reasons.

The fact that the Ark was coated in pitch and effectively sealed during the storm part of its journey would have protected the occupants & vessel from any cometary heat-flash.

Mega-tsunamis might underlie any number of Flood stories around the world. Just how the survivors managed to see the impact coming is anyone's guess.
