Foreigners

My English friend had trouble with the US visa application people, their wanting $200 just to examine a request for an extension of 3 months. Then saying they couldn't complete the request until 30 days after the visa expired, that sort of thing.

I couldn't help but wonder about the 10 or 11 million people in this country illegally. What does it cost them for their visa applications?

Anyway, we had no trouble renting a car with her as a driver using her European passport and English drivers license. She said that technically she was a citizen of Europe, and had no trouble getting around over there at all.

Or into Australia or Canada. Since she tended to travel alone, she felt more secure travelling where she spoke the language or could get along with more than a smattering of people. That limited her to Europe, Australia, the US and Canada.

And Amtrak wouldn't take her VISA credit card because it was an out-of-country bank, and I used mine.

Otherwise she got along just fine, didn't really have any complaints.
