re: credit and ID

I had no problems at all with my credit card in Europe. Good thing, too, since I used it to get euros from ATM machines.

I expect as an American, my passport serves the same function as Raoul's ID card.

I will say here again that despite the reputation the French have, at the height of the Iraq war, I (an obvious American) was never treated with anything but courtesy and friendliness in France.
