How about transformer wind turbines able to turn into water tight buoys during a storm?

Salt water is tough on equipment, but one spin off from oil rig technology is equipment that can withstand saltwater.

Maybe they could make transformer wind turbines. A storm comes and the turbine withdraws itself into a water tight buoy.
