The science behind the lakes hypothethis
It's not science by press release (which does occur) in this instance.
Scientists say that the radar data shows unusually SMOOTH surface return from these areas. In other pics not shown here, there are sinuous trails leading into the smooth uncratered areas. The evidence is best explained 'geologicly' by flow of liquid into pools (lakes). The chemistry data supports the possibility of liquids. In science the hypothethis that best explains the data stands until knocked down by a better explanation or by data that falsifies the hypothethis.
