The past and the future.

I try to be honest. There is a song by Lynard Skynard called simple kind of man I try to follow.

Actually, I don’t blame Clinton or Bush for 9/11. No one in America thought something like that was possible. I do place some blame on Clinton for not taking bin Laden when Syria offered him to America. He had enough grounds to take bin- the 1993 World trade Center bombings for starters. In that respect, would taking bin Laden from Syria have stopped 9/11? Who knows. Probably not, but it might have pushed it back or shed more light on what was going on. We’ll never know.

And I don’t blame Bush or Clinton for Enron. I blame Ken Lay for that.

Clinton didn’t rock the boat. In that respect, the economy stayed strong until the last year he was in office. Sometimes problems go away, and sometimes they don’t. Had Clinton not ignored the terrorist threat, or Iraq violating the no fly zone, shooting at American jets and all of Iraq’s UN and human rights violations, it might have had a negative effect on the economy. However, he put these problem off for the next President to deal with.

But then you could argue that if the Bush should have finished the job in Iraq by taking care of Saddam then. And you could argue that Reagan should not have helped out bin gang fight the USSR. However, if he hadn’t, would that have had any impact on the outcome of the Cold War?

I imagine would could drill down like this from president to president asking “what if” as each president's actions had a positive or negative effect on the future.

The future is hard to predict. And when a country like America takes action, or fails to take action, it can have a big impact on future events. But we can’t second guess ourselves. We can learn from or mistakes and successes, and keep pressing forward.

And so there we are. What is the next move?
