You know, I hear that same definition of "peer review" from creationists.
They, too, want to discredit studies based on scientific journals being some kind of big club who only let their own in.
They say this for religious reasons. I don't think saying it for political reasons makes any more sense, especially if one relies on peer review for scientific validity in other areas.
