Let's see...what happened to all the screaming leftists that claimed the Bush administration was incompetent at preventing 9-11? Where are those voices saying "this should have been able to be prevented!" and "Where was our counter-intelligence people!"
This software is nothing more than a filter and sorter. It picks up posts like those made by Lindy, Bowser, Don, Jack or Eric and then crosschecks them with other sites and similar names etcetera. It creates a quick box diagram of anti-Bush, anti-US sentiment in websites all over the world and the stuff that points to the angry, unstable folks who are more likely to commit terror or to be linked to terrorists. It can tell the frequency of an anti-US activist and map web activity to dates to help paint a picture of the fanatic-potential terrorist.
Terrorists keep in touch via the web and e-mail. After all the computers we have seized, it's obvious that website bulletin boards and e-mail are THE major form of communications betweent terrorists. Terrorists don't use snail mail. They don't use smoke signals. They use the web, free e-mail sites such as Hotmail, etcetera.
Why does one need a PHD to figure that out? The US is looking for terrorists - and the web harbors their communication and recruitment activities.
Why the heck SHOULDN'T we be filtering the web for this stuff!
As usual the agit-prop left turn something constructive into "The end of the world and the arrival of the police state!"
It's sad and tiresome.
