I'm not a deist, but I do understand that there's more to this than logic alone.
Those of us raised in the Hairy Thunderer tradition are at a distinct disadvantage because we have to deal with that personification every single time the word is uttered, and must set it aside every single time. But the whole point of God, once you get beyond all that, is that God is ineffable, and divinity is indwelling. Read the mystics; they can explain.
