Ho did a brief stint as a waiter in San Francisco. He envisoned himself as Viet Nams' George Washington and was confounded that the US came in to bail out the French oppressors that were occupying and dominating his country.
And those that would be foolish enough to denigrate the French ability to fight probably never heard of the Foreign Legion or followed their many distinquished battles.
It is equally as foolish to denigrate a percieved enemy as it is to glorify him. Underestimation of an enemy is often disasterous and overestimation leads to grandiosity when the deed is done.
