I think Ed is just having his usual response to being shown to be naked when it comes to the fabric of such things as facts and figures.

He lives in a land were the people are crying out for impact hazard protection...sadly it isn't also in the real world were few care till they do see death on the scale you are talking about.

South Asia is just now making an effort to fix a problem a few voices in the wilderness talked of for years. A Tsunami warning system isn't cheap but then the death counts created by waves such as we saw during the 2004 Tsunami shows the human and emotional price of not paying the price for a simple warning...not that people won't just stand there wondering at the wave coming towards them.
