If al qaeda learned our interrogation techniques, they could prepare their people and we would lose the psychological effect of not knowing what will be done to them.
I've read it's hard to prepare for something like waterboarding. Supposedly they tried it on Navy Seals in training and had to stop because it was detrimental to team moral. Don't know if it's true.
