I voted for it.

And not because I believe we shouldn't assist other people with communication. My take is simply that we can't do it only for one group and exclude the other languages of the world. We've somehow give Spanish some special dispensation over all others and it's patently unfair. If an immigrant from Korea enters the United States, our govenment documents are not printed up with help for those individuals so why should we make our Mexican visitors special in the eyes of the government?

I also voted for the proposition that said that illegal immigrants must now pay out of state tuition at our state universities and colleges. That seemed to be a no-brainer despite heavy lobbying from the academic community. I had mixed emotion since I'm both a taxpayer and a student. My in-state tuition costs are exhorbitant right now since I can't take enough classes to qualify for the maximum semester cutoff so it's real tough to be giving to non-citizens.
