As a grandson of immigrants, with many immigrant relatives, I agree. My people all entered this country legally, and most learned the language. Those who didn't or couldn't, managed to survive without English but they would never have dared presume special language arrangements be made just for them. I do not support the abolition of all non-English, especially in commercial communications or entertainment, and I have no problems with certain documents, warnings, etc. being bilingual, it's only common sense and can avoid lots of confusion and trouble down the line. Roadsigns at dangerous intersections immediately comes to mind. However, requiring total bilingual administration, particularly at the expense of other minorities and of the taxpayer is unfair, not only to the citizenry which has to pay for it, but for the immigrant who has gone to the trouble to learn the national language.
