But this is being addressed as a solution for crude oil supply shortages, not an alternative to hydrocarbon solutions. Similar to coal gasification, or oil sand, which alleviates shortages, but doesn't solve long-range energy or pollution issues.
Nuclear power does solve a lot of these problems in the short term, and I wish we'd get off the dime on it.
