fascinating

The elephant paintings do all look much alike, but they don't come across as random, either. I get a sense of purpose, as if something's trying to be communicated. Many of the paintings feature two strokes of color in the center against a background of generally contrasting colors. That would be quite a coincidence if random. Just guessing, but it's as if the elephant was trying to depict something in the foreground against some other background (hey, maybe it's the easel? That would be amusingly literal-minded.) Hmmm...Google sources say elephants are rather near-sighted, so the world must be blurry in the background, sharp in the foreground.

Very interesting.
