An alchemist, while dreaming, understood the benzene molecule...

Ideas depend on circumstances....and on what had been discovered beforehand.

The discovery of Neptune was something ready to happen. Had it not been Le Verrier, it would have been Adams.

Same for other discoveries...It depends on the general knowledge of the time. It's more timing than chance.
