(I'd put a spoiler alert on this, but this is geekspeak, so I doubt its necessary)
The last movie my wife and I rented was The Lake House. My wife is pretty sharp at figuring plotlines out and usually beats me to it. This time I had it figured out first, but knew the story had to have a sad ending for any of it to work. I mentioned this to her, but she didn't get it so I waited for the show to end to see if they would keep it honest or not. They didn't and ended with a sappy chick flick ending where the guy gets the girl. I was ticked at the ending, because it couldn't have happened. My wife would hae been ticked at the ending had it ended sad, but after I explained to her why it HAD to end sad in order to be honest she agreed, but she still liked the happy romantic ending better.
So now every time one of our friends starts talking about what a great movie it was, I can't help myself and explain to them what a crappy ending it was. Most people just don't get it. In fact so far my wife is the only one that does, even though she disagrees with me that a sad ending would have been better.
