Grondine's balls are proving hard to scratch, say scientists

(NASA)- Preliminary studies show that Grondine's balls are harder than expected, with a Mohs hardness rating of 8.6 only sapphire and diamonds can scratch Grondine's balls. This fact is slowing down the intense study of Grondine's balls. Said one scientist "There is proving to be a vas deferens, err- vast difference, between Grondine's balls and what we expected".

Grondine's balls have to be carefully prepared, since they are covered in a crusty coating that must be removed before further studies are possible. "You have to remember, Grondine's balls have not seen fresh air or the light of day in eons" said Dr Pillinger, leading expert on washing Grondine's balls "Grondine's balls have to be cleaned thouroghly prior to study- this is done by dipping Grondine's balls in a special combination of acids- we call it 'Grondine's Ball Wash', once Grondine's balls are cleaned we place them in a vice and abrade away the outer layers."
