I read the Adamski's books long time ago and found them interesting and thought provoking.
Actually my thought processes went something like this:
First: When I saw his second book on a store self, I thought: Visitors from outer space; "interesting" could that be true.
I picked up the book and read parts of the beginning, I realized that, weather truth or fiction, very "deep thoughts" had been inserted into the writing.
While leafing through the pages I came to the drawings that were depicting the "structure" of the "scout ship," the picture contained nothing that I understood as an "engine," there was the mention of a magnetic field and some other "forces," but such information did not convey any meaning as to how such a device could be propelled through the air or space.
So I basically said "impossible" and placed the book back on the self.
Yet, I could not get the "idea" of a saucer shaped craft out of my mind.
In those days there were other people and companies investigating the feasibility of constructing such craft.
The book had fired my imagination, I knew enough about the laws of physics to understand that IF there was a way to decrease the air pressure on the top side of the craft or increase it on the bottom side or doing both simultaneously, then IF the pressure difference was large enough, the craft would "float" in the air like a piece of wood floats on water.
Years later I purchased the book and read all of it, this time it made much more sense.
I suspect that I will be called every name under the sun, simply because I read a book many years ago and am trying to explain how I interpret that information, so, I'll end the explanation here and wait for the insults. :-(
Happy New Year (I hope)
