Apparently, the anti-capitalists of the Independent consider the looting of a nation's resources by a totalitarian overlord for his own enrichment and the destruction of his neighbors to be a superior situation to what is being currently proposed.

Or maybe the "Oil For Food" program under the sanctions, found to be rank with corruption at all levels, was considered a better deal for the Iraqi people.

Or maybe the lack of "production sharing agreements" in places like Saudi Arabia, or Iran, where again the kings and the state suck up the wealth, are preferable.

I suspect an oil company taking only 20 percent after the investment is recouped would look pretty good to the average citizen in a lot of these situations.

I've noticed that in other articles on this subject, the opinions of fervent socialists like PLATFORM and Global Policy Forum have been anonymized to the often-abused term "experts." That's pretty typical, too.
