Frankly, I don't give an ounce of credibility to the blogs...they are vehicles for delivering opinions rather than sharing facts.

What I get tired of is the constant mantra that those who are opposed to the war in Iraq are lefty liberals who cater to terrorists.

My opposition derives from the fact that I didn't think the case to go to war in Iraq was made in the first place and that doing so would not serve the United States' best long term interests. Both of these points have borne true.

But beyond that, I am appalled at how incompetently this invasion has been handled by the administration. Given a pass by the Republicans in Congress, this administration has made terrific errors in the execution of this misbegotten war. The price of these errors is the lives of over 3,000 American soldiers. Little wonder the vast majority of Americans are tired of it.

The Bush administation was given a remarkable bi-partisan strategy for extricating itself from this debacle. Instead, the plan has been trashed in favor of more of the same. The in-your-face response from Bush/Cheney and company is spiteful, self-serving and one of the biggest foreign policy blunders in American history.

Vietnam taught us that you can't succeed in war when over half of the American public don't support it. Success at war requires the political imperative that comes from a national consensus. Bush cultivated this consensus early on by telling us that Saddam had WMDs that threaten our safety. The consensus evaporated when we learned that simply wasn't true. It will never return, no matter how hard GWB tries to characterize his opponents in Congress as pandering to terrorists...the American public knows better.
