no doubt RE the 'because it's hard idea'...it goes all the way back to the beginning...hard, impossible, beyond our grasp, etc...however, as I read the piece, I think the same thing I've always thought about NASA...it's a beaurocracy...the most important job the guys at the front have is keeping their jobs...and, great salesmen they ain't...they work to a captive audience...imagine trying to pitch a NASA proposal in the real world...
