Increased chance of earthquake in South Coast BC/Pacific Nothwest
Apparently there is something currently going on called Episodic Tremor and Stress, which increases stress on the major fault line, thus increasing the chance of a big quake.
"What's going on right now is that the bottom portion of that fault is failing, and every time that happens, we're adding an increment of stress to the top portion that will eventually fail in a large earthquake. So when that is most likely to fail is when we are adding this increment of stress."

In an interview on CBC radio this morning, the seismologist being interviewed said it was like adding a straw to a camel's back - the trick now being to figure out which straw is going to cause the break.
We got our emergency kits filled and in vehicles a couple of weeks ago.
