honestly, unless he thought it out carefully and decided that 80GB is all he wants, he may wind up wishing for more.

I have found that nature abhors an empty HD and I went from 40GB to 400GB and a 100GB external on my most recently acquired machine. Lo and behold in a year I have used over 200GB. I could probably open up nearly a 100GB by deleting all video but still....
