Forbidden Planet
That Irwin Allen was greatly influenced by "Forbidden Planet" was obvious. Many of his visual concepts in "Lost in Space," "Time Tunnel," and other shows were directly taken from that movie. I only learned this later, since I saw "Forbidden Planet" for the first time when I was older.
Allen was the master of making a little do a lot for production values. Sets often consisted of a few well-lit props sitting alone in a blacked-out sound stage. His minature work was surprisingly good for the times.
