It's about a lot of things, but gun control isn't one of them.
The Mayor of Nagasaki was shot to death today by a gangster in Japan. Their gun control laws are stricter than ours.
Their laws don't apply to criminals and insane people any more than what laws we have apply to those groups. Laws only restrict the people who respect them. Laws are used to prosecute the rest.
I can go into any community organization in my town and know that the total owned firearms in the room is probably the number of adults in the room, times three. We've had some shootings, but most of our criminal attacks, fatal and otherwise, involve other objects: knives, baseball bats, hammers, ropes, pillows, plastic bags, fists.
This is about mental illness in our culture, and how we turn away from it and isolate the people suffering from it.
