Dan S. "Going communist?" Vietnam was communist when we went in.
As I recall, there was a South Vietnam which was not communist and a North Vietnam which was. I was told we supported the French and then took over the war from them in order to support the South Vietnamese in their efforts to ward off the communists. Because they weren't communist.
And that if we didn't support South Vietnam the entire region would be taken over by the communists with dire consequences for free people everywhere.
And when we left South Vietnam the North Vietnamese did take over the country.
Can you explain how Vietnam, the entire country, was communist when we went in?
