You might not have noticed this, but almost everything that made constant headlines prior to the 2006 election--corruption, lobbying, ethics, immorality, K-Street, and all the rest--have pretty much vanished from the news cycle.

Now that the Democrats are pulling all the same levers, they do NOT want you thinking about this. At all. Any news on DeLay's legal proceedings? Any indictments? What happened to Foley? What's new with the Ashcroft investigation? I know that Jefferson the bribe taker is still in office like nothing ever happened.

The answer is that these scandals served their purpose, and once Democrats were elected, the moral indignation vanished with the breeze. For the same reasons, all the crap about voting irregularities pretty much disappeared from the news the day after the elections. You can bet they wouldn't have if Republicans had won.
