We might be making too much of this
The history of Mars photos from orbit is full of shots where some trick of the light or conditions created something that looked very weird, or an optical illusion.
I suspect that another shot of this same area (There might even already be one on file someplace) would show only a rather deep crater.
If this is something very unusual, the scientists will know it too, and arrange for more shots to be taken if they don't already have them.
I can wait.
