Does it still look like a HOLE??? (image enhanced)

Using S-Pline Pro (I forgot I had it) to enhance pictures, here are the northern side and the southern side and it looks like rocks are emerging from the dark....Is it a liquid surface after all, or is the dark between the cliff and the emerging relief just shadow or something else????
