Where have you been?

Conservatives have been disillusioned by Bush for quite some time now. Excessive Federal involvement in education, lousy immigration views (you think this controversy is new?), failure to rein in growth of government, Harriet Meirs, the Medicare drug program, McCain-Feingold, and a lack of vetoes on a lot of things out of Congress that badly needed them.

Fortunately for the Republican Party, the alternative--the Democrats--is consistently worse on almost every issue (from a conservative point of view, of course, not a socialist one).

I suspect the same will be true in 2008. I guess we'll see. Hillary will be the candidate for the Democrats--her organization and experienced political goon squads will rip the living hearts out of all the other contenders--but I have no idea who's going to be running for the Republicans.
