It's okay
All in all I might rather be a rock star or King or any number of fantasies. :)
Working only for myself makes what I do satisfying and it is not grueling work. Part of me is a sorter and a bean counter so what might be pedestrian to some is okay for me. There is always satisfaction in doing something well and to be self employed you should be very good at what you do.
Left on their own most will make what they do pleasant enough. It is usually the employer that makes work seem unbearable. I have been there.
