Indictment announced late afternoon Monday.
Stepped down from his seat on the Small Business committee early afternoon Tuesday. That was Jefferson's only assignment in the current Congress.
He had *already* had has seats on Ways and Means and Budget taken away from him in June 2006, just over a year _before_ being indicted.
The comparisons with Ney and Cuningham are not perfect as they both struck plea deals and resigned before being indicted. They did keep committee assignments (though losing a chairmanship in Ney's case) well after their scandals "broke" but during the period in which they still swore they were innocent. Doolittle did resign from the Approps committee after his home was raided in April.
Delay kept committee assignments after being indicted and stayed in Congress for six months after being indicted. And don't forget he attempted to rescind the house GOP rule forbidding members under indictment from serving in leadership roles once it was clear his indictment was coming down the pike (initially the house GOP agreed to the changed but backed down after public outcry).
Sure I'd like to see Jefferson resign and I'd like a higher standard than "no worse than the GOP", but show me again how this is dramatically different than treatment of GOP members in recent scandals?
