He was re-elected in 2006 (from a district including New Orleans) with everybody knowing damn well what he was and what he did, and with the Democrats at the very same time making high and mighty noises about getting rid of corruption when they get the wheel. The irony escaped Democratic voters. You need to be able to integrate information to perceive either irony or hypocrisy.
