I doubt the whales find it sad....

I remember a documentary where they were looking at a pod of whales from a blimp - When they flew over all the whales rolled onto their sides to look up at the odd thing in the sky... There is no doubt that they have curiosity, and that they are willing (See my other post on this subject) to take real risks to satisfy that curiosity... The boat I was on could have been a whaling ship for all they knew...That is intelligence in my book... One thing is certain, they are far more gentle than humans...

The problem is that they are an alien intelligence- and so its hard for us to recognize it... when we meet a REAL alien intelligence, will we recognize it?
