The British mindset is different
I lived there for >3 years. I love the Brits. They are different from Americans, for sure! Nothing is sacred; they laugh at everything including the Queen. Their sense of humor is both more off the wall but also more subtle at times. The Brits value privacy, probably because there are so many squeezed into a small country. Eating out at a restaurant? Keep your eyes to your own table; don't look around at other diners; it's rude!
We Americans tend to be arrogant; we have a sense of entitlement. The Brits don't have those. They play nicer on the playground than we do most of the time. (At least until Tony met George.)
