What big fight?
Odds are more than good that if the MERs are ever returned to Earth,
they will go straight to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. Of course
since there are two, maybe they can share.
Personally I hope they stay where they are found as monuments to their
incredible pioneering mission.
So, speaking of old probes on Mars, how's MRO doing in terms of searching
for the Soviet Mars 2, 3, and 6 landers from the early 1970s? Haven't heard
much on that.
